AnywhereCam: Solving Remote Monitoring Problems
In 2020, Mike Blecha was helping a friend look for camera systems to monitor a ranch in Fort Morgan, Colorado. He assumed there had to be something on the market that worked in truly remote areas. To his surprise, every solution required either power or Wi-Fi—two things that don’t exist in the middle of a pasture, construction site, or backcountry road.
That realization lit a spark. If a simple, reliable, easy-to-install camera for remote areas didn’t exist, then Mike would build it himself.
Meeting the Team
We first met Mike in early 2022 at a pitch competition in Sterling, CO. He stood out immediately—not just for his passion, but for the progress he had already made. He had identified a problem that was crystal clear to anyone who works outside of urban infrastructure, and he was laser-focused on solving it.
At that same event, Dan Lane was sitting in the audience. With a background in business development and operations, Dan instantly recognized the potential of Mike’s vision. He joined the team shortly after, giving the young company the balance of technical grit and operational discipline it needed to grow.
Traction and Growth
By the fall of 2024, we reconnected with the AnywhereCam team at the Startup Colorado Pitch Competition. What a difference two years had made. The company had evolved from prototype to product, from vision to revenue. Their cameras were already in use across the state, and inbound requests were starting to flow in from unexpected industries. We loved the simplicity of the business model and the opportunity to bring a vetted solution to overlooked market segments.
In November 2024, we were proud to participate in their first round of financing—fuel to help accelerate their growth.
The Solution
AnywhereCam today is the most reliable and easy-to-install remote monitoring system on the market. Using solar power with battery backup and connecting through LTE, their cameras can operate 24/7 in virtually any location.
For ranchers, it means checking on livestock without burning fuel and hours of time. For construction crews, it means securing sites and tracking progress without a permanent power setup. For pig trappers, it means knowing exactly when to take action. And for many others, it simply means peace of mind in places where traditional solutions fail.
Looking Ahead
The company has grown from two employees to six and is scaling quickly. But more than just headcount or revenue, AnywhereCam represents something deeper: the power of founders who intimately understand the challenges of their community and build solutions rooted in that knowledge.
It’s a story we see often across overlooked markets. Innovation doesn’t just come from Silicon Valley. It comes from places like Fort Morgan, where a founder saw an everyday challenge and built something remarkable to solve it.
